Frequently asked questions?
Will I get to speak with my accountant directly?
Of course. You will have a dedicated point of contact who will be with you every step of the way. Whatever your query they will be there to guide you and ensure you know whatever information you need to provide. They will also be on hand to answer any questions you have and refer you if necessary.
can you work with my type of business?
We have worked with businesses from many, many different sectors. We have over 35 years of experience and during that time we’ve seen a lot. If you have a particularly unique or avant-garde business model then we’d love to work with you.
What tax dates should I be aware of?
The UK financial year starts on the 6th of April and runs until to the 5th of April the following year. You have until the 31st of January to file your tax return. This is also the deadline for paying any income tax owed to HMRC.
Are you able to file my tax return for me?
Of course. Your dedicated accountant will prepare your income tax return based on the information you provide. They will calculate your benefits, tax allowances, National Insurance contributions, pension deductions and send you a draft to approve. They will also be on-hand to discuss any amendments and respond to your questions before filing this with HMRC.
What if I have filed my return late or already have a late filing penalty?
Sometime accidents happen, it’s unavoidable. If you somehow miss a deadline you can appeal against the £100 late filing penalty online or by phone. For larger penalties you need to complete the SA370 form. Our skilled acountants have experience in this area too. If you have filed your return late, have a penalty charge or are just worried about getting one please get in touch, we’ll be happy to help.
What are the penalties for late submission
Penalties are issued if you need to send a tax return and you miss the deadline for submitting it or paying your bill.
The standard penalty is £100 if your tax return is up to 3 months late but you will have to pay more if it’s later than that, or if you pay your tax bill late.
You’ll also be charged interest on late payments.
Please remember you can appeal against a penalty if you have a reasonable excuse so if you have a penalty don’t hesitate to contact us.
