Key Facts about EORI number

• You need to obtain a UK EORI number if you move goods between the EU and the UK.
• You need a separate EORI number if you move goods from and to Northern Ireland.
• The UK customs will not be able to clear your goods if you do not have a valid EORI number.
• You may have to pay storage costs if your goods will have to be stored at UK customs for a long time.
• If such number does not start with GB, you need to apply for a new one.
• If you provided services only or move goods between Northern Ireland and Ireland, you do not usually need an EORI number.
• If you use a courier company to ship your goods to the UK, they will let you know if you need an EORI number.
• You need to apply for an EU EORI if you make declarations and clear your goods in the EU.
• If you move goods to and from Northern Ireland you should obtain an XI EORI number. To obtain such number you should already have a GB number.
