Customs Declaration Service – Take action now to continue importing goods

Take action now to continue importing goods

It is time for you to move to Customs Declaration Service. The UK will no longer allow you to import goods from 1 October 2022 if you do not comply.

Even if you use a customs agent for customs declarations, you must still take certain actions. You need to:
subscribe to the Customs Declaration Service
choose a payment method
check your standing authorities are correctly set up
give your customs agent, customs clearance instructions
Subscribe today, as it will take a couple of weeks for the switchover to take place.
You can use this trader checklist to make sure you’ve taken all the necessary steps.
A standing authority can be created on your customs financial account for the Customs Declaration Service. The same place also allows you to add or delete these.
If you use a duty deferment account, you must set up a new Direct Debit Instruction by 30 September 2022. Unless you do this, you will be unable to use your duty deferment account and will need to make immediate payments each time you declare imports.
